APPLICATIONS FOR COMMUNITY GRANTS
FEBRUARY 2009

Applications are invited from eligible organisations with purposes consistent with the Trust’s objectives for Community Grants to be distributed by the Hutt Mana Charitable Trust.

The Trust has up to $300,000 available for distribution by way of grants in the first half of 2009. To date, since the first of the semi-annual grants were made in March 2006 the Trust has distributed a total of $1,283,958 to organisations within the Trust area. This includes Upper Hutt, Lower Hutt and Porirua Cities and northern parts of Wellington City including Johnsonville, Newlands and Tawa.

HUTT MANA CHARITABLE TRUST ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIPS
 


The Hutt Mana Charitable Trust has agreed to consider applications for awarding of two scholarships per annum for students undertaking the Professional years of an engineering or energy management degree course.
An award would be available for up to three years of a course, subject to satisfactory completion of the coursework of the previous year.
The award has been set at $5,000 per annum and is payable in March of each year.

Degree courses:
The areas of interest to the Trust are generally covered by the B Eng course (with a major in Electrical, Gas, and Sustainable Energy), or B Sc (Energy Management).
Basis of award:

  • Pre-university residency within Trust’s geographic area 1

  • Studying electrical engineering or energy management (4 year course)

  • Awarded at the beginning of each professional year, subject to completion of the preceding years satisfactorily

  • Not able to be held concurrently with employer based scholarships or support

  • Subject to merit of the applicant.

Applications:
Applications for Engineering Scholarships should be made to the Secretary of the Trust by 31 January 2009. Applications should include full name, address and contact details, the nature of course proposed or commenced and details of current studies. A copy of achievements at Secondary school should be included. Applicants should be prepared to attend an interview if required.
